EPL: Cristiano Ronaldo could return to Manchester United - Wes Brown

Former Manchester United player Wes Brown has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo's legacy will certainly be inscribed in the club's history.

He said this despite the Portuguese's second tenure, which did not finish as many predicted.

Brown believes Ronaldo might make a dramatic return to Old Trafford if the occasion arises.

The 39-year-old five-time Ballon d'Or winner joined Manchester United in 2003.

During six seasons at the club, the Portuguese won his first of five Ballon d'Ors and developed into one of the world's top players.

A high-profile move to Real Madrid cemented his standing as one of the greatest ever to play the game, but his transfer to Juventus in 2018 saw him record impressive numbers as well.

In 2021, the 39-year-old made a fairytale return to Manchester United.

The former Real Madrid player had a disagreement with the Red Devils' manager, Erik ten Hag, which resulted in his unceremonious exit, as he joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr in 2023.

Brown, who spent 15 years at Manchester United and won five Premier League titles, believes Ronaldo may return to the club, either as a player or in another role.

"It's impossible to rule out Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Manchester United in some manner. Obviously, when he departed the second time, we were all unhappy because he had been one of United's best-ever players. It was disappointing how it ended, but I think he may return  to try and make amends for the sour ending.

"In his first season back at the club, he scored more than 20 goals. I thought the leave was a little dramatic, but I expected him to return in some fashion. "I would love it," Brown stated (via GOAL).
