Ballon d'Or Snub: 'Be unhappy and play better' - Courtois to Real Madrid star
Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has told his teammate Rodrygo not to be unhappy after being left off the 30-man 2024 Ballon d'Or shortlist.
Real Madrid has seven players on the shortlist, but Rodrygo has been ignored despite having a fantastic season with the club.
The Brazil international has expressed disappointment that he did not make the 30-man shortlist.
Speaking about the development, Courtois underlined that the 23-year-old is an important player for Madrid.
He stated, as described by Madrid Xtra, that "journalists put Jude's, Vini's, and Mbappé's letters. But in the dressing room, we understand Rodrygo's importance and excellence.
"I do not think Rodrygo has to be upset, but if he plays better when he is upset, then go ahead and be upset (laughs).”
