Sean 'Diddy' Combs, the embattled American musician, has been placed under suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York.

Diddy was reportedly placed on suicide watch as a preventative measure.

According to TalkTalk Nigeria, the 54-year-old was detained on Monday and is now facing federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

On Tuesday, US magistrate judge Robyn Tarnofsky ordered Diddy's arrest and detention until trial.

On Friday, Diddy's attorney, Marc Agnifilo, told TMZ that MDC officials' suicide watch instruction was simply a regular procedure for "new, high-profile inmates."

Agnifilo, who spent six hours with Diddy at the federal prison on Thursday, described the rapper as "not at all suicidal." He was healthy, strong, confident, and dedicated to his defense."

The report does not specify how long Diddy will be under suicide watch.
