Edo Decides: Why I'm Demanding Credible Election—Davido

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, or Davido, has expressed his interest in the Edo State governorship contest.

According to TalkTalk Nigeria, residents from around Edo State turned out in large numbers on Saturday to vote in the off-cycle gubernatorial election.

Davido has been criticizing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on X for alleged malpractices in the ongoing gubernatorial election.

His concern prompted queries about why he is so interested in the race given that he is not from Edo State.

Davido responded to the inquiries via his X Twitter, revealing that his late mother, Imade Veronica Adeleke, was from Edo State.

He went on to say that he should be concerned as a Nigerian, in addition to the fact that his late mother was from Edo State.

He remembers calling out INEC during the Osun State gubernatorial election, when his uncle, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, was running.

The artist expressed interest in the election, citing her mother's origins in Edo state. But we, as Nigerians, should be concerned, sha. @inecnigeria Shame on you; I know how many times I had to come here and rant until Osun got it right! It's very awful. "God help us."

Recall that Davido previously endorsed PDP candidate Asuen Ighodalo for the Edo governorship race on his Instagram account.
