Why I’m interested in Edo election – Davido

Nigerian Afrobeat artiste, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has revealed the reason behind his interest in the Edo State gubernatorial election.

Davido, on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday stated that his mother hails from Edo State – and expressed dissatisfaction with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the ongoing election.

He wrote: “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election … but we as Nigerians should be concerned sha .. @inecnigeria shame on you I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun ! It’s really bad . God help us.”

The singer described INEC as the most dangerous institution in Nigeria – and advised Edo residents to monitor the electoral process till the end.

He noted that all eyes will be on the governorship election in Osun State in 2026 – and urged INEC to extend the voting time in Edo.

“We Dey wait for Osun 2026 … try this nonsense first @inecnigeria. Extend voting time !! @inecnigeria.”

He added: “Make them hungry, then make them sell their votes to survive … when our Mumu go do oooo .. haba.”
