My wife convinced me to father triplets at the age of 59. - Ali Baba

Legendary stand-up comedian Atunyota Akpobome, often known as Ali Baba, has explained how he ended up fathering triplets at age 59.

According to him, the intention was to have another son with his wife, Mary.

Ali Baba, appearing on the Leadership Podcast, stated that his wife had a strong desire for another son, particularly after their children had went abroad for education.

The couple pondered adopting more children, but ultimately decided to try for them biologically.

This, he added, encouraged them to explore in vitro fertilisation, with the goal of fertilising two eggs and achieving at least one successful pregnancy.

Ali Baba said, "Madam had always desired to have a son. She had two girls, and we discussed it.

"So I told her that I didn't want to be having school runs, joining Wizkid and attending PTA meetings. One truth is the nest becomes empty when all the children have to go abroad to study and the discussion comes up again.

"By the way, she had hoped to adopt two or three children to care for them. One day, she decided that instead of adopting, we should just have our own. I was like, okay, but the way the economy is, and she responded, 'you said the economy is horrible,' I responded yes, and she asked if I had ceased paying house rent for anyone. I said no. She inquired again, "Have you stopped paying school fees?" I said, "No."


"We have a charity, the Purple Girl charity, that supports over 120 students in schools ranging from primary to university. Beyond that base, we have folks for whom we are paying school tuition and sending them to law school. So she said all of those folks you are helping, do you remember the economy?

"So I suggested let's do two, and one of the eggs split into two, resulting in three. When it turned three, she and the doctor were aware of it, but they refused to tell me. So they were saying that sometimes when we ask God for one million, he gives us two million. When God wishes to bless you, he doesn't specify how; he will simply do it.


"So, I was wondering where this was going? She said the eggs split in two, and I said we were hoping for two, but she said there are now three. "Then we have three boys."
