Former Napoli sporting director Cristiano Guintoli believes the club should not have waited until this summer to sell Victor Osimhen.

Guintoli, who now holds a similar job at Serie A heavyweights Juventus, helped Osimhen move to Napoli from Ligue 1 club Lille in 2020.

Osimhen departed Napoli to join Turkish Super Lig winners Galatasaray on loan last month, ending a lengthy transfer saga.
Guintoli claimed that Napoli took too long before opting to sell the striker.

"Maybe he should have been sold sooner, but Aurelio [De Laurentiis, Napoli President] is a wise and astute businessman." "I owe him so much and love him," he told Corriere della Sera.

Osimhen has made three appearances for Galatasaray since joining the club.
