EPL: I let my teammates down - Bruno Fernandes' red card vs Tottenham.
Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United's captain, has said he let his teammates down after receiving a red card against Tottenham on Sunday.
With United trailing 1-0 in the first half, Fernandes was sent off for a high tackle on James Maddison.
Spurs scored twice after the break through Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke, leaving Old Trafford with three points.
Erik ten Hag's team is now 12th in the standings, with seven points after six games.
Fernandes told Sky Sports after the game: "I let my teammates down with one man down." I appreciate everything they achieved on the pitch; it was difficult for them.
"We did not start the game well. When it's 11 against. 11, and the result is in their favor, we receive the red card.
"They did really well; they tried. We surrendered two more goals, but it was tough to close all the gaps.
"There are many positive things we can draw from this. The team's resilience was evident, and I'm proud of them."
