Bobrisky's N15 million bribery allegation: Nigerian government inaugurates investigative panel.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, has established an independent investigation panel into the alleged bribery involving popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, and penitentiary service employees.

Tunji-Ojo stated that the panel, which was inaugurated on Monday, was vital to sanitize the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCoS) personnel.

An audio recording posted online last week had Bobrisky's claimed voice alleging that his godfather's intervention prevented him from serving his six-month sentence in Lagos' Kirikiri prison.

The minister stated that the panel, led by Permanent Secretary Dr Magdalena Ajani, will promote transparency and accountability inside the service.

"We truly want to overhaul the correctional system. Your primary role is to investigate specific charges of corruption, torture, and maltreatment of inmates by correctional staff, particularly the current one involving Bobrisky, which I expect to be released in two weeks," he stated.

Tunji-Ojo continued, "We will rely on your legal advice to ensure that whatever we do is in accordance with the law. We will rely on you to devise a strategy and provide information to Nigerians. I want to make this very clear: nobody will be shielded. Nobody, no matter how highly placed, will be shielded.”
