EPL: It's criminal, a calamity - Simpson criticizes Man United player after 3-0 loss.
Danny Simpson, a former Premier League defender, lambasted Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot following their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday.
He pointed out that Dalot's failure to deal with Brennan Johnson resulted in Spurs' first goal of the night.
Simpson told MUTV that Dalot was unable to track the Tottenham star's run.
He remarked that the Portugal International recovered slowly and was never able to defend the back post.
"I see the cross coming, and for Brennan Johnson to have that much space at the back post, I think it's criminal," said the captain.
"I believe that is Dalot's position; I am not sure if he was inverted from midfield or full back, and he needs to recover.
"After two or three minutes, it's evident that this is a disaster. I believe the objective from start to finish was extremely awful.
"We need to improve our ability to close the space and react, as well as everyone getting over and shuffling across."
"I think Ugarte, he could have reacted quicker and got over, reacted too late then at that point."
