Kris Kristofferson, a US country music star, has died.
Kristofferson passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the age of 88.
Kristofferson's family announced his passing in a statement on Sunday, saying, "It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our husband, father, and grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, who passed away peacefully at home on Saturday."
"We are all extremely grateful for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these years, and know that when you see a rainbow, he is looking down on us all."
Kristofferson's songwriting career established him as a country music fixture, with successes including 'Sunday Morning Coming Down', 'For the Good Times', and 'Help Me Make It Through the Night'.
The late vocalist earned three Grammys Awards, including one for best country song “Help Me Make It Through the Night” and two duet wins with his ex-wife, Rita Coolidge.
