AFCON 2025: Super Eagles desire a good start - Eguavoen

Augustine Eguavoen, the Super Eagles' caretaker coach, said the team is determined to get off to a solid start in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

On Saturday, the Super Eagles will begin their campaign at home against the Benin Republic Cheetahs at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Eguavoen stated that the Super Eagles will go all out for a victory over the Cheetahs.

"Our goal is clear: to get six points in both games. The players understand this and are dedicated to achieving it. The matches will not be simple; no qualifying game can be taken for granted because all clubs desire to compete in the finals. However, we spoke with the players, and we're all on the same page," he told thenff.com.

"Beginning with Saturday's match against Benin Republic, no one is mentioning revenge. Our goal is three points, followed by another three points in Kigali on Tuesday, which will put us in good position to qualify."

The match will start at 5 p.m. Nigeria time.
