Miss Universe Nigeria: I didn't get a lucky win; I worked hard - Chidimma Adetshina.
Chidimma Adetshina, the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, has declared that she did not receive a pity win.
Adetshina said this in response to the criticism she received following her win.
In an interview with Arise News on Friday, she stated that she worked hard to win the pageant.
"Many people believed that it was a sad win. I do not think so. Coming back from South Africa, I felt as if I worked extremely hard. We spent around 10 weeks at camp, going through the entire journey.
"It might have been a slight difference compared to everybody else, but if you have to look at the journey that we have all been through, I feel like I really had the same experience with other contestants."
According to TalkTalk Nigeria, Adetshina was forced to withdraw from South Africa's beauty contest in August 2024 because to claims of fraud and identity theft against her mother.
Due to xenophobic response and rejection over her nationality, Chidimma accepted an invitation to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, which she finally won.
