Halima Abubakar Opens Up on Health Struggles, Says She Uses Filters to Hide Reality

Halima Abubakar Opens Up on Health Struggles, Says She Uses Filters to Hide Reality

Popular Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has made a heartbreaking revelation about her deteriorating health, stating that she uses TikTok filters to mask her real face.

In a video shared on Tuesday, the actress pleaded with Nigerians for support, explaining that she has been battling an undisclosed illness for years. She expressed disappointment over accusations that she is faking her condition, especially from those she once considered close friends.

“People are confused about what is happening. I’m not feeling fine up till now; I’m just good at being strong. I’m just pretending as if I’m okay. Every day, you see me post pictures with the TikTok filter, but this is how I really look,” she lamented.

Halima also recounted how she has been away from Nollywood for over six years due to her health challenges. According to her, she has undergone multiple medical check-ups, including three MRI scans at a Turkish hospital, yet the backlash from some quarters continues.

A Cry for Support or Public Validation?

Her emotional plea has sparked mixed reactions online. While some sympathized with her, others questioned the continuous public outcry.

🔹 "This is so heartbreaking. People should stop doubting her and show support!" – @officialblessing
🔹 "Halima, we are praying for you. Stay strong!" – @mercygold_
🔹 "Why always coming online to talk about it? If you’re really sick, focus on treatment, not social media." – @kingjerry
🔹 "The industry is wicked, once you're not useful to them, they forget you. Nollywood needs to do better." – @chic_vee

Opinion: The Price of Fame and the Reality of Betrayal

Halima Abubakar’s story is another sad example of how fame can be a double-edged sword. While fans celebrate stars when they’re at their peak, the moment they fade from the spotlight, support dwindles.

The most painful part of her ordeal, however, isn’t just the illness—it’s the betrayal from those she once called friends. If her claims are true, then it raises serious questions about how the entertainment industry treats its own when they are no longer in the limelight.

Her cry for help is a wake-up call, not just to the film industry but to everyone: Do we only care for people when they are beneficial to us? If Halima’s pain is real, she deserves compassion, not judgment. If she’s exaggerating, then perhaps it’s a sign of deeper struggles beyond physical health.

Whichever way, one thing is certain—no one should have to beg for support when they are truly suffering.
