Super Falcons Star Folashade Ijamilusi Joins Liaoning Baiye FC in China
Nigerian forward Folashade Ijamilusi has completed a move to Chinese Women’s Super League side Liaoning Baiye FC, signing a two-year contract with the Shenyang-based club.
The former Edo Queens striker, who played a pivotal role in the club’s Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) title-winning campaign, now takes her talents to Asia in a move that underscores the growing global recognition of Nigerian women’s football.
Ijamilusi was a standout performer in the NWFL last season, finishing as the league’s top scorer with eight goals while helping Edo Queens secure both the domestic title and a triumphant WAFU-B campaign.
Her impressive performances also caught the eye at the international level. The former FC Robo Queens forward made headlines after scoring a hat-trick for the Super Falcons in a friendly against Algeria’s Green Ladies last year.
A Step Up in Her Career
Moving to China’s top-flight league represents a significant step forward for Ijamilusi. The Chinese Women’s Super League has attracted some of the biggest names in women’s football, and this move gives her a chance to further develop her skills on a bigger stage.
For Nigerian football, this is another sign of progress. The success of players like Asisat Oshoala, who made waves in Europe, has paved the way for more Nigerian women’s footballers to gain international recognition. Ijamilusi’s move continues that trend, showing that homegrown talents can now command interest from top leagues worldwide.
As she embarks on this new challenge, all eyes will be on Ijamilusi to see if she can replicate her goalscoring prowess in China. With her strength, finishing ability, and relentless drive, she is certainly one to watch in the coming seasons.
