“Artistes’ First Girlfriends Are Video Vixens” – Afrobeats Singer Orezi Claims

Afrobeats singer Orezi has made a sensational claim about the dating habits of his colleagues in the music industry, suggesting that a lot of artistes end up dating their video vixens.

Speaking in a recent interview with Echo Room, the “Rihanna” crooner opened up about the undeniable attraction that often blossoms between artistes and video vixens during music video shoots. He admitted that he once found himself in a romantic relationship with one of them.

Orezi noted,

“Video vixens are normal girls, most of them have boyfriends. They are beautiful women. They are just normal girls. It’s just a job.”

He further explained how artists often develop romantic interests during video shoots:

“I have fallen in love with one of them in the past. Video vixens are artistes’ first girlfriends. Because when you’re coming for a video shoot and you see many girls, you must find one that you like.”

He added,

“A lot of artists, eventually date them. I have been one of such artistes. It’s normal. If artistes are not going to lie, every one of them has hung out with vixens.”

Opinion: Reality or Mere Perception?

Orezi’s comments are quite revealing and, to some extent, relatable. It’s not far-fetched to imagine that spending hours on a music video set with attractive, talented dancers could lead to romantic connections. After all, familiarity often breeds affection.

However, are video vixens truly “artistes’ first girlfriends,” or is this just a convenient stereotype shaped by casual interactions and fleeting romances? The entertainment industry is known for its vibrant social life and flashy lifestyle, where personal boundaries can easily blur. But does that mean artists generally see video vixens as mere romantic distractions?

Interestingly, Orezi’s words shine a light on a bigger issue—the casualization of relationships within the music industry. Many artists and vixens alike are genuinely trying to build careers, yet assumptions like this can create unwarranted biases.

It’s also worth noting that the dynamic between artists and video vixens isn’t unique to Nigeria’s music industry. Globally, stories of artists dating models, dancers, or even fans are quite common. Yet, the question remains: should we keep seeing video vixens as simply eye candy for artists, or should we respect their craft as professionals trying to make a name for themselves in the industry?

At the end of the day, while Orezi’s statement might resonate with many, it’s important to acknowledge that not every artist sees video vixens as potential love interests. For some, it’s strictly professional, while for others, the connection could be real and long-lasting.

But what do you think? Is Orezi’s claim a fair assessment of the music industry, or just a generalization of what goes on behind the scenes?
