Dammy Krane and Jaywon Clash Over Davido: When Online Disputes Get Out of Hand
The Nigerian music scene has once again proven its unpredictability as singers Dammy Krane and Jaywon Juwonlo traded harsh words on social media over their perceived support for music superstar Davido.
The dispute began when Jaywon referenced an old interview where Davido boldly claimed that “Nigeria’s economy is in shambles.” In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Jaywon questioned Davido’s critics by writing:
“A few months ago, when Davido spoke about the state of the country in an interview, some people quickly came together to call him out as if he was lying. Abeg, where are those people today? The reality is clear that Nigerians are their own biggest problem.”
Dammy Krane wasted no time in reacting to the post, calling Davido out and dragging his family into the matter. He commented:
“FLOPIDO & his family are part of NIGERIA’s problem. Dem sef dey in power & na dem de distribute power.”
But the drama didn't end there. Jaywon, clearly annoyed by Dammy Krane’s comments, took to X again to attack Wizkid’s fanbase, known as FC, branding them as “empty heads” who interfere in matters that don’t concern them. He wrote:
“Just because say you dey suffer no mean say everybody dey suffer. 97% of FCs are empty heads. Because even things wey no concern dem Dem go put mouth!!”
Dammy Krane fired back, accusing Jaywon of constantly defending Davido. He wrote:
“Jay-lost na you no wan comot FLOPIDO’s gbolahan from your mouth. I own you, Jay Jay.”
The exchange of insults escalated quickly, with Jaywon hitting back:
“You Dey curse me like say I owe your papa money. Every little thing, your career this, your career that, and your father had none.”
Opinion: When Clout Chasing Overshadows Maturity
The messy social media spat between Dammy Krane and Jaywon is yet another episode of how Nigerian celebrities seem to thrive more on drama than artistry.
While Jaywon’s initial post was intended to highlight the hypocrisy of Davido’s critics, Dammy Krane’s unwarranted attack on Davido’s family was uncalled for and unnecessary. It’s one thing to have an opinion about someone’s career; it’s another to drag their family into it.
Additionally, Jaywon’s offensive description of Wizkid’s fanbase (FC) only added fuel to the fire. It’s like he forgot that most of these online fanbases are fiercely loyal and ready to defend their favorite stars at any cost. Instead of promoting peace, Jaywon’s words simply stirred up more animosity.
The ongoing exchange only shows that, instead of addressing relevant societal issues or promoting their music, some celebrities are more focused on throwing insults and attracting attention through controversy.
This incident should serve as a reminder that as public figures, their words and actions carry weight. Instead of tearing each other down online, it would be more productive for them to use their platforms to contribute positively to society and their fanbases.
What do you think? Should celebrities be more careful about their online conduct, or is this just part of the entertainment game?
