Mercy Aigbe Shuts Down Critics Over Husband: "That’s Just Noise"
Renowned Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe Adeoti has firmly dismissed claims that she dominates or controls her husband, movie marketer Kazim Adeoti.
Speaking during an interview on Iriri Mi, a talk show hosted by Bimpe Akintunde, Mercy Aigbe described such rumors as nothing more than unnecessary "noise."
“That’s just noise. Look closely at those talking—how is their life? People only talk when you’re doing something good. If you’re not known, you can’t be their topic. You have to be at the top to be a topic,” she said.
"I Know What I Want" – Mercy Aigbe on Marriage at Almost 50
The actress also opened up about her decision to remarry despite some reservations from family and the public.
“I love love, actually. Even some family members asked me why I was getting married at almost 50, but everybody knows what they want. I know what I saw, and I know what I wanted. I love to have a crown (husband) on my head and to be married. Maybe if I was still in my baby daddy’s house, I wouldn’t be known as Mercy Aigbe."
Opinion: Unapologetically Living Her Truth
Mercy Aigbe’s response is a powerful lesson in self-awareness and confidence. In an industry where public perception can make or break careers, she has chosen to stay true to her happiness rather than succumb to societal pressure.
Her stance also highlights a bigger conversation about marriage and societal expectations. The idea that a woman—especially one in the limelight—must conform to external opinions rather than follow her heart is outdated.
Final Thoughts
Love is personal, and Mercy Aigbe’s choice to remarry on her own terms proves that happiness should always come first, no matter the age or circumstances. If she’s content, why should the opinions of strangers matter?
