NNL Praises Competitive Season as Second Stanza Approaches

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has expressed satisfaction with the high level of competition witnessed in the first half of the 2024 season.

NNL Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahman, emphasized the strength of the teams and the quality of individual performances, stating:

“The statistics reflect the strength of the teams and the quality of individual players this season.”

First Stanza Standout Performances

The first half of the season has produced impressive displays, with Inter Lagos FC’s Othuke Egbo emerging as the league's top scorer with seven goals. Meanwhile, Abdullahi Umar remains the only player to have netted a hat-trick.

Teams Leading the Charge

  • Inter Lagos FC and Dakkada FC lead their respective conferences in goals scored (14 goals each).

  • Wikki Tourists closely follow with 10 goals.

  • Warri Wolves and Mighty Jets have been the most defensively solid, conceding the fewest goals.

  • Adamawa United recorded the highest number of goals conceded so far.

However, it has been a challenging season for Igbajo United, Jigawa Golden Stars, and Zamfara United, who have managed to score just two goals each.

Opinion: An Exciting Second Stanza Awaits

With the second half of the season set to kick off next month, fans can expect even more drama, goals, and surprises. The battle for promotion to the NPFL and the fight to avoid relegation will be fierce.

If the first stanza is anything to go by, the NNL continues to prove itself as one of the most exciting and unpredictable leagues in Nigerian football.
