Destiny Etiko Slams N100 Million Lawsuit Against Queeneth Hilbert Over Alleged Boyfriend Snatching Accusations
Popular Nollywood actress, Destiny Etiko, has taken legal action against fellow actress Queeneth Hilbert over claims of boyfriend snatching. The lawsuit, which demands a whopping N100 million in damages, was filed in response to Queeneth’s social media allegations accusing Etiko of snatching her wealthy boyfriend and those of other colleagues.
The drama began when Queeneth Hilbert publicly called out Destiny Etiko on social media, making serious accusations aimed at tarnishing her reputation. But Destiny Etiko wasn’t about to let the accusations slide. In a swift response through her legal representatives, Chisom Onugah and C.C. Nwabundo, Etiko issued a cease-and-desist letter on Saturday demanding Queeneth to retract her defamatory statements and tender a public apology within 48 hours.
According to the legal petition, Etiko firmly denied the allegations, accusing Queeneth of fabricating stories for her own material gain. The actress made it clear that her reputation and career are at stake and she would pursue the matter legally if her demands are not met.
Sharing the petition letter on her Instagram page, Destiny Etiko wrote:
“Enough is enough. Defamation of character will no longer be tolerated. Some people just wake up and decide to chase clout by dragging innocent people’s names through the mud. This is unacceptable.”
Opinion: Clout Chasing or Genuine Grievance?
The Nollywood industry is no stranger to controversies and social media drama. However, the constant bickering among celebrities, especially involving private affairs like relationships, can be damaging to reputations.
From an outsider’s perspective, it’s hard not to wonder whether this is yet another case of clout chasing. Social media has become a battleground where personal issues are exaggerated for attention and engagement. If Destiny Etiko’s claims are valid, then this is indeed a classic case of someone attempting to build a following through scandal.
On the other hand, if Queeneth Hilbert genuinely believes her accusations, then this could be a deeper issue of betrayal and rivalry within the industry. But the fact that these allegations were made publicly rather than addressed privately raises serious questions about motive.
