Finidi George Confident New Signings Will Boost Rivers United’s Title Ambitions

Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has expressed confidence that the arrival of Chijioke Mbaoma and other new attacking reinforcements will significantly strengthen the team’s chances of achieving their season objectives.

Mbaoma, a former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) top scorer, recently completed his move to the former league champions, bringing experience and a proven goal-scoring record to the squad.

Speaking to the club’s media, Finidi emphasized the importance of the new additions, stating:

“These are experienced players, especially strikers. I’m happy with their contributions. Let’s keep this going and see how far we can go.”

Rivers United Still Eyeing NPFL Title?

Despite trailing league leaders Remo Stars, Finidi remains optimistic that Rivers United can still challenge for the title, provided they maintain consistency in picking up points away from home while securing victories at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.

“We are working towards a target, and I believe it’s achievable. Fighting for the league is still possible if we can pick points away and win our home games,” he added.

With Remo Stars and Enugu Rangers yet to visit Rivers United, Finidi believes that closing the gap is realistic, especially if his team can put pressure on the front-runners.

“If we keep up the momentum, they might slip, and we will take advantage. We will keep encouraging the boys and see how far we can go.”

Opinion: Can Mbaoma Be Rivers United’s Game-Changer?

While Rivers United’s attack has shown flashes of brilliance this season, the addition of a clinical forward like Mbaoma could be the key to turning near-misses into victories.

However, the real challenge lies in building consistency, especially in tough away games, where the team has often struggled. With Finidi at the helm and new firepower up front, Rivers United’s title dreams are still alive—but they must seize their opportunities before it’s too late.
