Omoni Oboli Slams Ghanaian TV Stations for Airing Her Movies Without Permission

Omoni Oboli Slams Ghanaian TV Stations for Airing Her Movies Without Permission

Nollywood star, Omoni Oboli, is not taking things lightly as she calls out several Ghanaian local television stations for airing her movies without proper licensing. The actress took to her Instagram page on Saturday evening to express her frustration and promised to take legal action against those involved.

In her heated post, Omoni Oboli didn’t just criticize the TV stations but also questioned the Ghana National Film Authority’s effectiveness in curbing such unauthorized acts. She made it clear that the effort and dedication put into producing her films deserve better treatment and respect.

Omoni’s Furious Message

“I love my Ghanaian besties, colleagues, and friends, but you see those TV stations in Ghana, I’m coming for you! The guts to show my movies without licensing! If dem no arrest one of una, you won’t learn! Watch out! Coming for every one of you!” she ranted.

The actress went on to stress the amount of hard work she invests in her projects, adding, “You have no idea how much work goes into these projects. The sleepless nights I have! I’m coming for it all! You will pay for every one of my movies you have shown without permission! In 2025, you don’t understand that’s IP theft?!!!”

In conclusion, she also hinted that the lack of proper oversight by the Ghana National Film Authority is not an excuse for intellectual property theft, saying, “Maybe you don’t have a television authority in Ghana, but that is not my concern! Coming for you all! Clowns! Thanks to my Ghanaian besties for always sending me screenshots.”

Opinion: An Artist's Right to Protect Their Work

Omoni Oboli’s outrage is completely understandable. Intellectual property theft is a major issue that continues to plague the entertainment industry across Africa. The fact that her movies are being aired without proper licensing shows a blatant disregard for creative rights.

It’s easy for people to dismiss such situations as minor, but the truth is that a lot of time, energy, and resources go into making these films. Just because movies are made for the enjoyment of viewers doesn’t mean they should be exploited freely without permission.

The Ghana National Film Authority needs to step up and take decisive action to protect the works of creatives, both local and foreign. As a content creator, Omoni Oboli has every right to pursue legal action and demand that her efforts be respected.

However, her approach of generalizing the issue by calling out all Ghanaian TV stations may not be entirely fair. Instead, pinpointing the exact culprits and working with the appropriate authorities for resolution would be more effective.

What’s your take on this? Should Omoni Oboli proceed with legal action, or should she try resolving the matter amicably with the Ghana National Film Authority first?
