Osimhen Strikes Again as Galatasaray Tighten Grip on Turkish Super League Title Race

Osimhen Strikes Again as Galatasaray Tighten Grip on Turkish Super League Title Race

Victor Osimhen continued his red-hot form in front of goal as Galatasaray secured a confident 2-0 win over Samsunspor in Friday night’s Turkish Super League clash.

The defending champions took an early lead through Yunus Akgun, who found the net in the 14th minute to settle any nerves. Just moments after the restart, Akgun turned provider — teeing up Osimhen for Galatasaray’s second of the night in the 46th minute.

The Nigerian striker made no mistake, slotting home with the kind of confidence and precision that has made him a nightmare for defenders all season long. That goal marked Osimhen’s 21st in the league and 28th overall for the Yellow and Reds this season — a blistering return that also includes five assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.

He was later substituted in the 76th minute for Spanish forward Alvaro Morata, with the job already done for the night.

Galatasaray now sit comfortably atop the Super League standings with 74 points from 29 matches, as they chase a third consecutive league title.

Opinion: Osimhen’s Turkish Delight Proving More Than Just a Phase

When Galatasaray secured Victor Osimhen’s signature, it raised eyebrows across Europe. Was Turkey a step down for one of Africa’s hottest strikers? Could he replicate his Serie A success in a new league?

Now, months later, the answer is crystal clear.

Osimhen hasn’t just adapted — he’s dominated. His pace, hunger, and eye for goal have injected new life into Galatasaray’s already powerful attack. More than just stats, his presence on the pitch forces defenders to second-guess every move, and his link-up play with Akgun and other midfielders shows a chemistry that champions are built on.

If he keeps this up, not only could Galatasaray wrap up another title, but Osimhen might just be writing his name into the club’s history books — and perhaps earning another big move, if Europe’s top clubs come calling again.

For now though, the Yellow and Reds are flying — and Victor Osimhen is soaring right alongside them.
