The Super Falcons of Nigeria lost 3-2 to Dominion Hotspur in a friendly encounter played on Thursday, November 1.

The game was played at the Atlantic Hall pitch, Epe Lagos in preparation for the upcoming 2019 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).

Super Falcons vs Dominion Hotspur

Super Falcons boss Thomas Dennerby dropped 14 players recently and will still have to trim his squad for the tournament.

The Super Falcons were the side to take the lead in the encounter as Amarachi Okoronkwo’s shot in the 14th minute gave Nigeria the lead.

The lead, however, did not last until halftime as a brace from Etim Friday put the Lagos based team in front at the break.

To start the second half, there were 10 changes made by Super Falcons boss Dennerby and before his team could settle down they conceded yet again.

This time a strike from Kolawole Bashir gave Dominion Hotspur a two-goal lead in the encounter in the 55th minute.

The lead was kept and more changes were made by Dennerby who introduced Falconets star Rasheedat AjibadeAnam Imo and a host of first-team players with 15 minutes left to play.

The substitution paid off as Chioma Nwogu reduced the two-goal advantage to  Dominion Hotspur with five minutes left to play.

The Super Falcons could however not find an equaliser with five minutes to play as Dominion Hotspur held on for the win.

The game which was a preparatory encounter as the Super Falcons intensify their efforts to retain their title at the 11th AWCON scheduled to hold in Ghana from Saturday, November 17 till Saturday, December 11.

The Super Falcons are drawn alongside the Bayana Bayana of South Africa, Zambia and Kenya in group B of the competition.
