Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Appears on 'The Daily Show' To Talk 'Dear Ijeawele'

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Appears on 'The Daily Show' To Talk 'Dear Ijeawele'

"You have to name the problem," Adichie says about why she is sticking to the word "feminism."

Last night, on Comedy Central's the Daily Show with Trevor Noah, writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie sat down with Trevor Noah to discuss feminism and her book Dear Ijeawele, or A Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions.

Though there had been some speculation on Twitter about whether Adichie's appearance on the show would lead to an announcement of a new book, the interview focused on her bestseller Dear Ijeawele instead. Some of the topics discussed were the relationship between femininity and feminism, whether chivalry is really still necessary, men who are feminists, and Hillary Clinton's Twitter.

The episode had some great moments between Adichie and Noah. A highlight was when Adichie spoke about how much she liked Noah's mother, leading her to tell the host, "I think everything good in you is because your mother raised you."

"It's a compliment that sounds like an insult. You know, it's like 'everything good in you is from your mom. The rest of that shit is you. That's you and your dad.'" Noah jokingly responded.
