Lagos State Government Employee got Arrested for Faking his own Kidnapping.
Detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lagos have apprehended Rafiu Rahaman'm,' a 29-year-old employee of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) in Lagos, for faking his own kidnapping.
Superintendent of police issued a statement, According to Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Rahaman traveled to Lugbe Abuja after faking his own kidnapping and made a video of himself in captivity, which he sent to a coworker. The suspect came up with an elaborate plan, which he succeeded in executing together with his accomplice Usman
According to the police spokesperson, Rahman's accomplice Usman Sheidu'm,' 32, who demanded a five million naira ransom but only received one hundred and fifty thousand naira after extensive bargaining, has also been arrested.
"Investigations show that Usman Sheidu, who was apprehended in Abuja, conspired with Rahaman to stage the kidnapping and create the video that was sent to the coworker for ransom. Usman also admitted to splitting the ransom with Rahaman and using his share to buy a generator and other items for himself. At the conclusion of the investigations, suspects will be arraigned in court." said Hundeyin
He went on to say that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, has promised that criminals will not go undetected and unpunished.
