In Ibadan, a court has remanded a 30-year-old man for alleged armed robbery.

On Monday, an Iyaganku Magistrates' Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, ordered Rildwan Lawal, 30, to be remanded at the Federal Correctional Centre, Ibadan, on a charge of armed robbery.

On two counts of alleged conspiracy and armed robbery, the defendant, whose residential address was not provided, is on trial.

Mrs Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti, the Magistrate, who did not accept the defendant's plea of no contest due to a lack of jurisdiction, ordered his remand at the correctional facility.

The Police Prosecutor was ordered by Amole-Ajimoti to send the duplicate case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

She postponed the case's hearing until August 26.

He said the offences contravened Sections 6b and 1(a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) ACT, 2004.
