Kenya bans 16 players and coaches for match fixing.

After obtaining information concerning match manipulation in the national league, the Football Kenya Federation punished 14 players and two coaches.

Six Zoo Kericho FC players were punished on Friday after being found guilty of match-fixing by FIFA's integrity section in 2021 and ejected from the Kenyan Premier League.

The federation stated that those implicated, including one player from the reigning Kenyan Premier League champions Tusker, had been suspended until the situation was fully probed.

"The Football Kenya Federation has received private allegations claiming the involvement of several players and officials in match-fixing operations," the organization stated in a statement.

"In order to maintain the league's integrity...the federation has immediately temporarily suspended these persons awaiting the outcome of the FIFA and FKF integrity department investigations."

FIFA banned four Kenyan players, one for life, in February 2020 for their roles in a "international conspiracy" to rig league matches.

Five Kenyan referees were later suspended in connection with the same affair.

Kenya just returned to international football in November, after FIFA suspended the country in February 2022 due to government influence in the sport.
