Tinubu: Let's advance Nigeria and collaborate on creating the country. — Elumelu

ABUJA—President Bola Tinubu has urged legal practitioners in the country to rededicate themselves to providing services that will aid in the development of the country.

The President, who officiated at the 2023 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, in Abuja, insisted that such rededication must begin with a shift in attitude and a complete commitment to national progress.

Mr. Tony Elumelu, Chairman of United Bank of Nigeria Plc, stated yesterday that Nigerians must unite for nation-building in order to provide a better future for youths.

Tinubu hailed the conference's theme as "extremely apt and extremely relevant to our current situation as a country."

"We have to get it right," stated the president. Why are we so blessed but still lacking? Change your perspectives. We make a lot of noise about the past, but is that the solution? No.

"Look ahead, be determined." God has endowed us with a creative mind and will. Nigeria is our motherland, our country. It is our obligation to build it," stated the president.

Furthermore, he stated that his administration would work successfully with the private sector, which he defined as a generator of economic progress and prosperity.

He stated that such collaboration would ensure the delivery of democratic benefits to Nigerians.

President Tinubu thanked the NBA for affording him the honor of declaring the conference open and expressed confidence that with the caliber of persons he has accepted to his cabinet as Ministers, the country will be better in no time.

President Tinubu stated that what he expected from his ministers was "a change of attitude and approach to governance."

"Let us approach the task of nation-building with unwavering determination, guided by the principles of unity, inclusivity, and progress," Elumelu stated at the NBA's annual general assembly in Abuja.

"Let our pursuit of nation-building be marked by unwavering determination, empathy, and the determination to leave a legacy of progress, unity, and hope for future generations."

Elumelu argued that nation-building necessitates a fundamental renovation of Nigeria's social and economic infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of investing in youths, women, the power industry, security, social infrastructure, and the brand Nigeria.

"At its core, nation-building is the intricate process of forging a cohesive, harmonious, and united society out of diverse individuals, culture, and ideologies," he said. It is the skill of creating a collective identity, purpose, and vision that transcends all individual concerns.

"Transforming Nigeria is a journey that requires our collective commitment, transcending political affiliations, ethnic differences, and socioeconomic differences." One that is not only the duty of our government.

"Great nations, not just great leaders, begin with great people." Our commercial sector, philanthropies, civil society, and all people must be brought together and empowered - as genuine, valued, and implementing participants in this national rejuvenation, nation building. It is incumbent upon all of us to work together to reset Nigeria."
