Burna Boy in trouble with Nigerian music fans

Burna Boy in trouble with Nigerian music fans

Burna Boy has once again found himself in the news for the wrong reasons, following a recent interview in which he was featured leaked into public. In an interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe in New York, the African Giant, as Burna Boy is frequently referred to, claimed that most Nigerian songs lacked content and that Nigerian artists talked about nothing in their songs.

"90 percent of them (Nigerian musicians) have no real life experiences, which is why most Nigerian music, African music, or Afrobeats, as people call it, is mostly about nothing, literally nothing."

"It has no substance — nobody is talking about anything in it." It's simply a fantastic time. It's an exciting time. But, at the end of the day, life isn't perfect. You will face life regardless of how good a time you are having now, had in the past, or hope to have." Burna Boy stated in the interview.

Many individuals took to social media to tell Burna Boy that he needed to stop portraying other Nigerian musical artists negatively and painting himself as the messiah of Nigerian music.

On Instagram, he took the majority of the flak, as even fans of his music thought his recent interview was off the tracks.

"Burna," said @pirateonsocialmedia. Boy, when do you start? The person who begged Grammy to take away his modest prize did not believe he was a small god. "Mo fo ooo."

"Did Burna just say Nigerians sing nothing?" said @Fionafionaa. Isn't Burna Boy also a Nigerian, Abeg? "Nawa oh"

said @zoneforme"Clap for yourself, Burna Boy, you've just made more enemies in the music industry."

"Burna Boy is allowing pride to eat deep into him," said @Waleoniru.

"Odogwu wan make we turn am to Odiegwu abi?" said @Markontwitter.

@Lindababy posted on Twitter "Na Burna and Davido like this kain talk; even Wizkid doesn't talk like this." Rubbish speaks."

"You get the Grammy, but you don't get sense," tweeted @Emmsholumade. Burna, quit acting like you own music and start being humble."

He was not allowed off the hook on Facebook.

@Charles Kumolu made a post "Without a doubt, Burna Boy owns this Afrobeat moment." His stage presence and delivery are enthralling. This is his moment! However, constantly putting down his constituents (Nigerians) does not make him the bigger guy. It turns him to a conceited individual who believes he has everything. Burna's newest gaffe questioning the quality of other Afrobeat songs should remind him that his tracks aren't any better. It's the same as those he aims to weaken.."

It should be noted that Burna Boy is not the first Nigerian artist to disparage his peers this year, as Davido labeled Burna Boy and a few other artists as "new cats" in the entertainment industry earlier this year.
