NBA sets Adjudicature Review Committee and installs Ex-NERC leader, Amadi, as chairman.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) formed the Adjudicature Review Committee (ARC) to strengthen Nigeria's judicial system.
The association also named Dr. Sam Amadi, former CEO of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), as the committee's chairman.
This was revealed in a statement by NBA Chairman Mazi Afam Osigwe, which Amadi posted on Saturday via his X (previously Twitter) page.
"Thanks @afamosigwe and NBA for the honor of appointing me to chair this important committee to reshape the judiciary towards a justice-based adjudication that promotes democratic accountability," Amadi wrote on Instagram.
According to the announcement, Osigwe stated that the ARC will routinely review significant appellate court judgments, giving extensive analysis to address legal errors and contribute jurisprudence that enhances democracy and justice in Nigeria.
The NBA President also directed the committee to publish the Nigeria Adjudicature Review quarterly and provide scholarly comments on cases with major socioeconomic and political implications.
"The ARC will conduct regular reviews of key appellate court cases, providing comprehensive analysis to address legal errors and contribute to jurisprudence that strengthens democracy and justice in Nigeria."
"The Committee will publish the Nigeria Adjudicature Review quarterly, providing informed analysis on cases with substantial socioeconomic and political implications.
"Every quarter, the ARC will submit a detailed report to the NBA President, assessing the judiciary's role in promoting professional ethics, substantial justice, and democratic accountability," the statement's first sentence said.
