My Thoughts on the Backlash Against Pashotah Over the Egungun Scandal
Isn’t it fascinating how quickly people are ready to give unsolicited advice about other people's marriages? That’s the vibe I got after seeing Fortune Okoye’s response to Nigerians urging Pashotah to leave her husband, Egungun of Lagos, following a leaked video scandal.
Okoye’s Instagram post really got me thinking about the boundaries we cross as spectators of other people’s lives. She didn’t hold back, questioning why anyone feels entitled to weigh in on such a personal matter. “Is it your husband’s gbola that’s outside? So, what is your business?” she boldly asked. And honestly, isn’t that a valid point?
She went on to remind everyone that Pashotah and Egungun have a long history together—struggles, sacrifices, and now, success. If Pashotah decides to stay, is that really anyone else’s call to make? Okoye pointed out that many of the critics weren’t there during the tough times, yet they feel qualified to dictate what Pashotah should do now.
Personally, I think this highlights a deeper issue: the tendency for society to feel overly involved in the private lives of public figures. Why is there so much pressure for her to act a certain way? Relationships are complicated, and decisions like this should come from those directly involved—not from a chorus of opinions online.
What do you think? Should people back off and let Pashotah handle her situation in her own way, or is public opinion fair game when someone is in the spotlight?
