Singer, Mayorkun Slams N1 Billion Lawsuit Against TikToker, Dabarbie Who Claimed He’s A ‘Ritualist’

Singer, Mayorkun Slams N1 Billion Lawsuit Against TikToker, Dabarbie Who Claimed He’s A ‘Ritualist’

Earlier on Friday, Nickie, born Precious Kingsley, said that "Mayorkun and some other Nigerian artistes are all ritualists".

Famous Nigerian singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, often known as Mayorkun, has requested N1 billion in damages from prominent TikToker Nickie Dabarbie for claiming he is a "ritualist".

Earlier on Friday, Nickie, born Precious Kingsley, said that "Mayorkun and some other Nigerian artistes are all ritualists".

In a series of Instagram photos, she stated that she had "escaped from being used for rituals" by Skiibii.

She described how the artist took her to his residence for a boat excursion and "forced" her to drink "alcohol before trying to kill me".

The TikToker also released a video of deep cuts on her hand being stitched together, alleging they were the result of Skiibii's attack.

However, in a letter to his legal agent, Mayorkun dismissed Nickie's charges as "baseless, bizarre, and untrue".

He also asked that TikTok produce a retraction and an apology across all social media platforms and two national publications within 24 hours.

The singer also requested the lady to pay N1 billion as “damages for emotional trauma, loss of endorsement”.

The letter stated that the requests must be completed within 48 hours.

"Our client's attention has been drawn to your online post in the early hours of 19th day of April 2024 made via your Instagram wherein you categorically labeled our client as a ritualist," the letter goes on to say.

"First and foremost, our client disputes all charges made, which are frivolous, weird, and false. We are also aware that our client has not met with you personally or had any personal dealings/relationship with you, which supports our claim that your assertions are false and frivolous.

"We hereby require that you immediately comply with the following conditions. That you remove the objectionable publication from all of your social media profiles within 24 hours of receipt of the letter. That you will accompany the retraction of the objectionable publication by publishing a video and written apology in two national publications.

"That you refrain from engaging in any acts of defamation or slander against our clients, whether written or verbal, from now on." That you pay our client at least 1 billion Naira in damages for all of the emotional distress, loss of endorsements, and legal fees.

“Take further notice, that you should you fail to adhere to our demands herein within 48 hours with the exception of the takedown of the offensive publication which must be done within 24 hours.”

The development comes a few hours after Skiibii said that he had “reported the case to the police for a thorough investigation”.
