Mayorkun Speaks On Purported Attempt To Use Nigerian Influencer, Nickie Dabarbie For Ritual
Mayorkun, a Nigerian Afrobeats singer, has confirmed rumors that he used female social media celebrity Nicki Dabarbie for ceremonial purposes.
In a series of social media posts on Friday, April 19, 2024, Dabarbie accused Mayorkun and his colleague, Skibii, of intending to use her for a money ritual.
Mayorkun, who had previously remained mute on the matter, took to his X account to voice his displeasure with the propagation of negative news about him online and the reactions of many Nigerians.
The 'Certified Loner' admitted that he had never met Nicki Dabarbie and was unaware of her existence until the charges arose online.
According to him, the issue is currently in court because he refuses to let the defamation accusation against him remain due to its impact on his reputation and profession.
He reaffirmed that he had never met Nicki Dabarbie and that he would press full charges against her since he did not want an apology.
He wrote, "You know, I was going to let this remain a court case, but when I checked the comments under some of the blogs where these ridiculous allegations were posted, I was quickly reminded of how gullible most people are on the internet and how willing they are to spread any negative news without any form of clarity.
"Just for the record, I never met that person on that day, have never seen that person since, and had no idea they existed until those charges surfaced... yet she claimed I put'something' in her drink.
"A lot of people believed that tale; do you think I'll let this libelous accusation go? No!
"I want to re-instate; I've never seen this person before, even as I type this! I still have not laid eyes on this person. So what else can I say? How else can I prove it?
"There is no use in asking for an apology since I will not receive one. I simply needed to speak this openly and get it off my chest if it was a case of ‘cancellation’ as many people are quick to do, I for don go back to dey find work for bank.”
