Nigerian Singer Signed To Wizkid’s Records Opens Up On Health Challenges, Cyberbullying
Terry Akewe, popularly known as Terri, a Nigerian Afrobeat musician, has spoken up about the hardships he has faced in his music career, such as health issues, cyberbullying, and sacrifices made in pursuit of his love.
Terri, who is signed to Wizkid's Starboy Records, rose to notoriety after appearing on Wizkid's track "Soco" and has since released his debut EP "Afro Series," which includes hit songs such as "Shuu," "Turn on Me," "Bia," and "Same You."
On Saturday, the singer revealed in a series of posts on his X Twitter that his experience in the music industry has been everything but pleasant.
He discussed his struggles with anxiousness, ulcer difficulties, losing friends, and being unable to pay hospital bills.
He stated, "Ulcer complications and anxiety difficulties. Inside and outside the hospital. Crazy hospital costs, mother loosing her mind, all for music. Shit insane. Jesus never fails. We're going to win finally.
"Lost pals and family; I'm simply trying to find myself. Stanship conflict and distractions are topics I know little to nothing about."
Recognizing the toll the music industry had taken on him, Terri pleaded, "Please, just see Terri for Terri." This stuff is my entire existence... "Support my craft."
Terri also discussed his difficulty to pay his tuition fees in 2018 and how he abandoned his schooling to pursue music, saying, "In 2018, after being admitted to UNILAG three times and being unable to go due to financial constraints, I was set to begin studying in 2018, but I quit because of this song. "I gave it my all."
Terri also mentioned his experiences with cyberbullying, which has been a burden, saying, "Since I got in here, I've suffered so much cyberbullying, all I wanna do is sing."
