‘Talented Nigerian artists not up to 5’ – Ruger

Popular singer Michael Adebayo Olayinka, alias Ruger, claims that Nigeria today has less than five talented musicians.

Most Nigerian performers, he claims, are only singing for "cruise".

In a recent interview with Cool FM in Lagos, Ruger remarked that people that are brilliant and making genuine music are not up to five.

However, he did not mention the only talented Nigerian artists in his opinion, nor did he specify where he ranks on the list.

"I'm not the most popular artist in Nigeria, but I'm up there in terms of talent. "We are not up to five," he stated.

"I won't tell you where I am on the list, but I'm there. It is not up to five. Most individuals only sing for cruises, but we [the talented artists] create music."

Ruger claimed he was surprised to learn that he has a significant following in Israel.

He claimed he sold out a 7,000-person venue in the country.
