Women are to be blamed for ‘Yahoo’, ‘hook-up’ cultures – K-Solo
Solomon Oyeniyi, often known as K-Solo, a Nigerian music producer, has said that women are to blame for the menaces of internet fraud and online sex selling in Nigeria.
During a recent interview with Arise TV, the beatmaker revealed that moms allow their children to engage in these vices.
He also claimed that celebrities had a harmful influence on young people.
K-Solo stated, "Hook-up in Nigeria is now like ordering food. It is almost normal. They even justify it by claiming it occurs abroad. However, I believe that regulations should be in place to guide it.
"There is a lot of support from underground. Women, particularly moms, can provide assistance at home. I'm sorry, but mothers are the most disastrous. When my car broke down on the road, I noticed a young girl, about 16 or 17, who was about to go out. I overheard the mother urge her in Yoruba to bring something back. I confronted the mother, asking where her child worked because she was dressed so nicely and appeared too good to be going to the office in that dress. She couldn’t answer.
"I looked at the mother and replied, 'By look, I'm older than you. What are you doing at home, instructing that poor girl to bring anything home? Now, just to reiterate, when Yahoo first launched in Nigeria, it was the mothers who collected the scam earnings from the bank. This should not sound like I am reading from a book. This is what has been happening.
"The more mothers and female advocates speak out against these vices, the more change will occur. "When female celebrities who flaunt their luxurious lifestyles on the internet come out and show girls how they hustle on the fields, a lot of young girls will go back to the drawing board."
