Copa America: Messi identifies Argentina’s future star
Lionel Messi, Argentina's captain, has identified Valentin Carboni as one of the country's future stars, complimenting the teenage midfielder's "barbaric quality."
Carboni, who made his senior debut for Argentina in a 3-1 victory over Costa Rica in March, started his first game for the national team on Friday against Guatemala.
The 19-year-old impressed as a great right winger.
Carboni joined Inter in 2020 and just finished a loan spell with Serie A team Monza.
He is currently competing for a spot in Argentina's final Copa America roster, with the reigning World Cup winners due to face Canada on June 21 in Group A.
"He [Carboni] has a great future, present and future, we must take advantage of it as well as many boys who come with great strength," Messi stated to TyC Sports.
"Since we arrived in the United States that he has been training with us, we had seen him in the Under-20s but he grew a lot - he is a different player, much more trained and with barbaric quality."
