Ladipoe Speaks On Mocking Wizkid With Controversial ‘Hip Hop Is Dead’ Tweet

Ladipoe Speaks On Mocking Wizkid With Controversial ‘Hip Hop Is Dead’ Tweet

Ladipoe, a Nigerian rapper, has reacted to his controversial tweet, which allegedly criticized Wizkid.
According to TalkTalk Nigeria News, the artist mocked Wizkid's remark that 'hip hop is gone'.
He had composed the words, "Nigerian rappers that survived 'hip hop is dead' watching Afrobeat artistes go through their own."

After a fan notified Wizkid to the post, he responded with, "Lol, never chatting with anyone signed to an influencer." Next."

In a recent interview with Cool FM in Lagos, Ladipoe stated he was "amused" by the chaos.

The Mavin Records signee said his post was misread.

He said, "The whole thing was a joke. Hip-hop musicians have gone through a period when there was a false narrative that hip-hop was dead. And now, you are getting the same whispers about Afrobeats. Once again, I think that they are just as ridiculous and false as at the time they were saying hip-hop is dead.

"So my tweet was like, 'Okay, you guys [Afrobeats singers], we [rappers] have our own [bad times]. Don't worry, this too will pass.

"I was more of a joke; we went through ours, and now you're going through yours. That was the humor. If anyone was targeted, it was most likely the audience or anyone who believed these narratives. Who are you to declare any genre dead?

"That was the whole point of the joke. I didn't anticipate any other interpretations. I know exactly what I was thinking when I tweeted it. I tweeted it. went to bed. I awoke to turmoil.

"Honestly, the first thing I felt when I saw all of the reactions, I was amused.”
