Why we choose collaboration over beef – Fireboy speaks on work with Rema
Fireboy DML, a Nigerian artist, has stated why he and his colleague, Rema, chose to collaborate rather than feud as fans expected.
He stated that they made the decision because they are "advanced".
In an interview with Apple Music's Ebro, Fireboy stated, "Myself and Rema are the two leading [Afrobeats] artists of our generation." We came together and decided that rather of giving the audience what they want, which is meat, we should collaborate. "We are too advanced for this stuff."We didn't even give them a club banger; we created good music. "We have five more collaborations."
Fireboy and Rema were compared on social media after achieving success in the same year.
The parallels subsided when Fireboy featured Rema on a track, titled, ‘Compromise’ off his third studio album, ‘Playboy’.
The collaborative song was an indication that they were on good terms.
