‘They’re amazing artists’ – Sarkodie denies feud with Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy
Popular Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has denied feuding with Nigerian Afrobeats musicians Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.
According to TalkTalk Nigeria, Sarkodie created controversy by bragging that he was in the music industry before Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy in his latest song, 'Brag.'
The dispute has strained relations between Dremo, a former Davido signee, and Lyrical Joe, a Sarkodie signee, who have been releasing fresh diss singles almost every day.
Sarkodie has now addressed the situation. In an interview with RODE, the 'Azonto' singer revealed that the references to Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy in his song were just to highlight his longevity in the music industry.
He noted that if he wanted to sling insults, he would have targeted rappers rather than vocalists.
He said: “Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido would never think I want to jab them because if I want to jab somebody, it has to be rappers. They are not rappers.
"I was just discussing with rappers about how long I've been there and who else is ideal to utilize as homage. Everyone knows Wizkid, Burna Boy, Black Sheriff, Asake, and Davido. And it's true that I was in the industry before they all arrived. It's only a reference to how long I've been there. It is not making shots at anyone. "These are incredible artists."
