Don’t allow anybody drag you into politics – Senate president Akpabio urges Davido
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has encouraged Davido, the famed Afrobeat singer, not to let anyone lure him into politics.
During the singer's courtesy visit to Abuja on Monday, Akpabio advised prudence.
When Akpabio met Davido, he showed his excitement and praised the musician for making his country proud.
"For me and the government of President Bola Tinubu, it's an inclusive administration, and you've probably noticed in my many appearances that we work together across party lines.
"Even if your administration is PDP, one thing we all have in common is a desire to better the country. And it is a country that has shown you a lot of love.
"The country's population is unparalleled anywhere else in Africa, with over 240 million Nigerians. So I urge you to remain a great Ambassador of our country. Continue to do your best in the entertainment industry and don’t allow anybody to drag you into politics.
"In the political arena, we appreciate talent. We will do all possible to help the entertainment sector and great individuals like yourself. "All we need is patience and prayers to succeed," Akpabio said.
On his part, Davido informed the Senate President of the reason for his visit.
"As for me, I am doing my part to help society. I have a foundation where I donate N300 to N400 million to orphanages each year. And I'll be releasing a new album in June or July this year. "I just want to thank you for everything you've done for us," the singer remarked.
Davido was with two of his cousins, Tunji Adeleke, the son of his late uncle, Senator Isiaka Adeleke and Folasade Adeleke, the daughter of Osun State Governor.
