‘I was criticised for dressing too sexy’ – Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian musician, has revealed how she was highly attacked for her "sexy" fashion style in the early days of her career.

In a recent interview with Kiss FM in the United Kingdom, Savage recounted being chastised for her "risky" songs when she was younger.

She revealed that her obsession with Ayra Starr stems from her experience.

She said that Starr has continued to shine on the worldwide music arena despite criticism from Nigerians over her fashion sense.

Savage stated, "I love Ayra [Starr]. I am enamored with her. She's amazing and sincere, too. It gets me upset because when I first started, I was heavily criticised for wearing too sexily and writing lyrics that were too hazardous.


“So, seeing someone, Ayra now…If I see her wearing the short skirts as they [critics] say, I’m like, ‘Make it shorter.’

“And she looks amazing, she’s extremely talented. Yeah, she’s a star.”
