‘I Was Stubborn’ – Tiwa Savage Reveals What She Did When She Was Accused Of Wearing Revealing Clothes

Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian artist, has revealed how she was first barred from playing at gigs in the nation after she returned from abroad.
The artist explained that her initial music videos were not shown because her clothing were deemed too exposing.
Savage, on the other hand, stated that despite the charges based on cultural differences, she did not change, and her audience grew to the point where those who had previously rejected her were forced to accept her for who she is.

During a recent interview with BET, the singer described herself as stubborn, noting that despite internet criticism, her clothing has become more revealing.

Savage stated, "When I initially moved back, I would show up at a gig and be told I couldn't perform because my clothing was too revealing.

"It was a cultural issue." Even some of my earlier music videos were not shown on television because they were deemed inappropriate. I wasn't even wearing a bikini. Despite the defeats, I remained stubborn. My outfits were becoming increasingly exposing. It was only getting worse. They were attacking me online.

"It was funny because the girls were secretly in love with me and my style. They could not deny. My fanbase, or followers, was growing. So they had to schedule me for shows and play my music because there was a demand for it."
