UBO declares Idowu April Boxer of The Month

The Universal Boxing Organisation has named Nigerian boxing phenom Rasheed Idowu Boxer of the Month for April 2024, following his stunning victory in a highly contentious match in Accra, Ghana.


In an official statement issued to the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control General Secretary Remi Aboderin, UBO Vice President David Maizner praised Idowu's outstanding performance against his Ghanaian opponent Bastie Samir, which resulted in a second-round knockout.

According to the statement provided to our correspondent on Saturday, "Mr. Rasheed put up a tremendous performance, defeating his more experienced opponent Bastie Samir by dramatic second round knockout.

"Unfortunately, controversy ensued, but justice was ultimately served, and we are pleased to name Mr. Rasheed our champion. I can also notify you that our staff has decided this week to name Mr. Rasheed the UBO Boxer of the Month for April 2024."

Idowu expressed his thanks for the honor in an interview with TalkTalk Nigeria Sport Extra, stating, "I'm really excited, and I appreciate them. I did not expect this, and may God continue to bless them.
