Ronaldo in tears as Al Nassr lose King’s Cup final, end season trophyless
Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr's superstar, grieved sadly as his team lost 5-4 on penalties to Al Hilal in the King's Cup final on Friday.
The result means Ronaldo will not win a title this season.
The match in Jeddah ended 1-1 in regulation time, and extra time failed to produce a winner.
Aleksandar Mitrovic took Al Hilal the lead in the seventh minute, but Aiman Yahya equalised in the 88th minute.
In a tense encounter, the referee issued three red cards, first to David Ospina for Al Nassr in the 57th minute and then to Ali Al-Bulayhi and Kalidou Koulibaly for Al Hilal late on.
Yassine Bounou, the Al Hilal goalie, was eventually the hero when he saved Al Nassr's final two penalties to secure the trophy.
Al Hilal have now also completed the league and cup double.
