Transfer: Bayern Munich tell Man Utd De Ligt’s price tag

Bayern Munich is requesting a €50 million (£42 million) transfer price from Manchester United for its defender, Matthijs de Ligt.

Following Raphael Varane's departure, Manchester United prioritized signing a new center-back during the summer transfer window.

While Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite is a top target for the Red Devils, their initial £45 million offer was turned down this week.

With Everton wanting more than £70 million for the 21-year-old, United is willing to consider alternative options if negotiations fail.

According to Sky Germany, De Ligt has emerged as an alternative, and the Premier League club has began internal conversations with the Netherlands international, who previously played under manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

Bayern Munich is willing to sell De Ligt this summer but insists on a €50 million compensation.

De Ligt joined Bayern for €77 million (£65.6 million) from Ajax in July 2022.

The 24-year-old is with the Netherlands national team as they prepare for their Euro 2024 group stage match against Poland on Sunday.
