Chloe Bailey bemoans racism in music industry

Chloe Bailey, a popular American singer and actress, has spoken out against racism in the music industry.

The 25-year-old criticized how Black artists are pigeonholed into genres while White vocalists are classified as mainstream pop stars.

She argued that her music was classified as R&B because she is Black.

In her Nylon cover story, Chloe stated that if a White person sang the same music she performs, it would be classified as pop.

"Because I am a Black woman, any song I create will be simply and swiftly classified as R&B. If someone with a different skin tone made the same song, it would fall within the pop category. "That's just the way things have always been in life," she bemoaned.

She went on to say that music has no race, genre, or anything like that. It's just a sensation, a vibration."
