‘I grew up in front of everyone’ – Ayra Starr
Afrobeats star Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, also known as Ayra Starr, has boasted of reaching success at an early age.
The singer stated that her music has evolved since she rose to prominence with her eponymous first EP and first full-length record, '19 & Dangerous', in 2021.
She stressed how she grew up in the spotlight.
Participating in Visa's 'Music Talks,' Ayra Starr stated, "My first single blew up in Africa, and I was overwhelmed. I got to grow up in front of everybody. We must enable artists to mature and discover their own identities. So I'm not sure if this is my final shape, but I don't believe there is one. I do not think so.
"I believe there are eras and situations in which you simply get better. This is the current vibe with Ayra Starr; it may not be the same next year. It might be better or bigger."
On her global acceptance, Starr stated, "People from all over the world enjoy my music. My voice is similar to my sound. I bring the Afrobeats to every genre I enter.”
She revealed that she recorded five songs during her first meeting with Don Jazzy, who eventually signed her to Mavin Records.
"I recorded five songs on the first day I saw Don Jazzy. "Three of them ended up in my first EP," she explained.
