World Cup: Alvarez explains why he apologized to Messi
Canelo Alvarez, a Mexican professional boxer, explains why he apologized to Lionel Messi following the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Alvarez had a social media outburst with Messi after accusing the Inter Miami captain of insulting the Mexican national flag during Argentina's 2-0 World Cup victory over Mexico.
He later apologized to Messi, who was seen kicking a Mexico jersey in the locker room following the game, for his comments.
However, Alvarez has now revealed in full why he chose to apologize to the former Barcelona captain, acknowledging his mistake once more.
"You must admit when you are incorrect. It makes you neither better nor worse. "You have to admit your mistakes," Alvarez told Univision Fresno (via Express).
"The euphoria of supporting the Mexican team at the moment and seeing them lose like that. Well obviously, you don't put too much thought into your actions." However, you must recognize when you have made a mistake.
